random as a bucket of bits
Yeah, this is one of those stream of consciousness type posts which is mostly random bits and pieces that are flitting through my head. When I go postal one of these days and start shooting the place up, these are the blog posts that a sensationalistic media will point to and say “yeah. he was nuttier than one of those fancy almond encrusted breakfast cereals. Why didn’t anyone see it sooner??!!”.
Firstly, woe. The Scousers lost. The first goal was flukey as hell, but the second was awesome. Fair result, I guess. Hating the sleazebag Berlusconi doesn’t completely blind me to the excellence that is AC Milan.
Next, I’ve been going through a bit of a guitar phase recently. First it was some random dead dude, now it’s Buckethead. I’ve even gotten a mess of The Yardbirds ready to go. This phase is no coincidence, really - I’m also watching the Seven Ages of Rock documentary and that probably explains the urge to dig out the old skool stuff again.
So. Greatest Guitarist of All Time? The “definitive music list site” has a guitarist page and I randomly stumbled on it today. Hendrix top, then Clapton, Page, Beck… I guess I really can’t complain about the top 5. Santana is 28th, Buckethead is an undeservedly low 30th (I claim some bias in that last assessment. Maybe). I have a few more nitpicks too (Slash is too high, ditto Chuck Berry although I haven’t heard a lot of his stuff).
And now for something completely different.
Passwords. (Told you this was random.)
If you’re on Windows, then KeePass is really all you need to store all those pesky passwords in one safe, hopefully secure place. Years ago, I installed KeyRing on my trusty Palm; but just reserved it for the most important stuff. Recently, I took the plunge and actually entered most of my frequently used passwords, not just the important ones, into a KeePass database.
What particularly caught my eye was the password generation feature in KeePass. Seemingly easy to write, very straightforward to use but considering that I’m currently figuring out ways to revamp the creaky (and horrendously insecure) authentication system in Ach… it’s useful.
Back to more Buckethead now.

That pick of the top guitarists sounds good to me. Isn’t it amazing that Clapton, Page and Beck were all, at one time or another, members of the ‘Yardbirds’?

Why hate Berlusconi? The man is a legend. I can’t see Tony Blair ever owning MUFC or Chelsea. He makes me do sex wees in my pants. Berlusconi, not Blair.
Blair. That would be just awful.

JJ: Yes, it is… They were pretty influential. Over Under Sideways Down is a very memorable riff for me personally.
CY: Yes, they did lose to a better team; although I’m not sure the AC Milan forwards had as good a game as the prematch hype suggested. It was more about Maldini and Nesta being very good at shutting down Liverpool to me.
And Berlusconi. Cult of personality, corrupt, sleazebag. What Tony could be if he tries harder
And you’re fooling no one with your hasty clarification of the err.. sex wee interest…
