Harry Potter 7. Yes, it’s been available for a couple of days now. Yes, I’m reading one of the dodgiest copies around. Slowly, labouriously. Why? Can’t I wait another 4 days? I don’t know really. It just seems useful to get the read out of the way during the week, for some inexplicable reason. It’s actually a lot like Order of the Phoenix in pace thus far (I’m about three quarters of the way through). Minor spoilers and links to major oopsie level spoilers follow, so stop reading if you don’t want to know.

BEWARE. HERE BE SPOILERS AND OTHER DEMONS.
But then, it could all be an elaborate hoax. Your mileage may vary. I’d certainly laugh long and loud if this book turns out to be a fake.

Three deaths so far, not major ones just yet. The action is still about to happen. There is lots of explanatory backstory, mostly about Dumbledore. It’s all a bit of a yawnfest if you’re trying to speedread. About three good lines so far, one by Viktor Krum (paraphrased) “What’s the use of being a famous international Quidditch player” (if there are no females fawning around me?)

full spoilers. No idea how long that link will stay alive. Interestingly, this link contradicts the major plot points of the previous link. It’s all very confusing.

Update - Ok, I read the “book” for myself. One of those spoiler links is wrong in several major plot points. (Not saying which one, though. RAFO). All in all, it ends on a fairly feel-good note. There are few major deaths, in fact - in the grand scheme of things, I think the murder of Cedric Diggory was probably darker than the random culling of characters in this book. Take that as you will.

Actually, it is. I read that for a few hundred pages but had to retire with severe eye hurt.

Then I discovered (wish I had thought of it! it’s a brilliant idea) someone who applied a filter to the pages and made it grey on black. That made it infinitely more readable.

Also, that let me finish the photographed thing and I can update the post.
