all points north
First there was the political compass (where I am completely and utterly smack dab in the center), now there is apparently the new political compass. We were discussing the right-wing, left-wing nature of posts and topics in the lkblagozphere (term used without permission) and I displayed my usual bipartisan tendencies. I call this being a centrist. Those less kindly call it flip-flopping. We might both be right.
So we all collectively decided to do the new political compass test. Post your results in the comments kthxbai.
FWIW: I couldn’t decide what my country of residence was, since I’ve lived in the UK for a few years now. So I picked the UK. Perhaps that was an error. Perhaps not. I have no idea.
My scores:
Left/Right (This axis is quite like the familiar left/right political division. It mixes economic issues — varying from laisser faire to interventionist perspective — and social or “moral” issues such as recommending the death penalty to punish criminals. We choose to give “the right” positive values on this axis)
-3.6613 (-0.2204)
Pragmatism (This axis is much less important than the first. It represents a combination of philosophies you could call “pragmatism”, “utilitarianism” and so forth, mixing social, religious and economic issues. We have chosen to give an atheist, utilitarian perspective positive values on this axis)
+5.3560 (+0.3224)
So, to my slight surprise - I’m a little bit more far left than I expected. I thought I’d be closer to the center. To my complete lack of surprise, I’m utilitarian/atheist/pragmatic/whatever you want to call it. Again, though - the values -3 and +5 respectively aren’t very far from the dead center of the chart; so at least I’m consistent in that way.

EEYA.
Also, that first quiz we all did? Awesome. How come there was no perv options in this one? I’m a bit disappointed.

This is more ammunition for my theory that professional bleeding hearts are all idealists. Not entirely controversial, that.
How much more pervy can you get that imagining Rastiadu sandwiched by a grinning Tony Blair and Charles Kennedy? I threw up in my mouth. A lot.
The Tiny Little Fascist (who chickened out of publishing his results in a comment, the tosspot) found another poll on the same site which placed him as a Green/Tory. The shrieks of horror could be heard all the way over here.

Not quite sure if that’s a good thing or not.

Heavens. Are we all lefties here? The only significant differentiator seems to be in the pragmatism score.
The range thus far seems to be:
4% left leaning to 41% left leaning
1% pragmatic (ie:, almost balanced between idealist and pragmatic) to 32% pragmatic
We’re all in the same quadrant with Charles Kennedy, people. Now to figure out if this is a good thing.
Psy: I twisted no arms! And you chickened out of doing the quiz anyway

I am more to the left than I imagined. I suspect the questions regarding religion and my nation’s history may have contributed to that.
I can live with those results though being so close to Blair is a bit concerning. Never trusted the man except during his early, breath of fresh air phase.

More like squeals of indignation. The Green/Tory blend was simply bizarre.
Anyway, I hath taken the test and you’ll be happy to know that I’m slightly more of a leftie than you by a paper thin majority. More of an idealist too, befitting my bleeding heart status:
left/right -3.6618 (-0.2204)
pragmatism +1.4543 (+0.0875)
